Sladen Legal offers a fresh approach to legal services

Launching a new brand and identity might seem like a daunting task for many businesses, but for law firm Sladen Legal, it was an exciting step forward. On Monday 20 May, the Melbourne-based firm started operating from a brand new office, with a new name, a new focus and a clear vision for its future.

Formerly the Melbourne office of Harwood Andrews Lawyers, the decision to create a more targeted firm came through a review of client needs and expectations.

“Our Melbourne firm has always had a client base consisting primarily of private business clients and our services have naturally catered to this market,” Managing Principal, Dan Simmonds explains. “When we assessed the future direction of our Melbourne operations, we identified a need to better align ourselves and our values with those of our clients and to create a more targeted range of services.”

Seizing the opportunity presented by the move to the newly built Lantern Building in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct, the new name of Sladen Legal was revealed. The name pays tribute to Sir Charles Sladen, a former Premier of Victoria, who was a partner in one of the antecedent firms that now make up Harwood Andrews. In taking on the Sladen name, the firm acknowledges its rich history, while also adopting the characteristics of Sir Charles.

“Under the name Sladen Legal, our firm will be able to further promote the values and strengths that define us,” Simmonds continues. “Our determination and passion to achieve great results for our clients, our ability to understand complex matters and achieve commercial solutions, and our commitment to speaking and acting with clarity and transparency”.

Sladen Legal will focus on private business client service areas, including taxation and superannuation, trusts, asset protection and business structuring, succession, intellectual property, property development, workplace relations, commercial disputes and mergers and acquisitions.

The firm will operate as one part of the Lantern Legal Group, with Harwood Andrews continuing to offer a broad range of legal services through offices in Geelong, Melbourne and Ballarat.

In concluding, Simmonds noted the great response that the firm has received since announcing the new name, “the response from our clients has been overwhelmingly positive and we are thrilled that so many of them have been a part of this transition for our firm. We look forward to sharing the Sladen Legal journey with them in the years ahead.”

Sladen Legal is located at levels 4 & 5 of the Lantern Building, 707 Collins Street, Melbourne 3008. For further information or interviews, please contact Dan Simmonds.
